Mayor of the City of Vancouver proclaimed October 21st, 2011 as "MASTER CHENG YEN DAY" in recognition of Tzu Chi's outstanding volunteerism and spiritual leadership of Master Cheng Yen.
Master Cheng Yen, named as one of TIME Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" for her spiritual leadership and humanitarian vision, is the founder of Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation in Taiwan.
Tzu Chi Foundation Canada, founder in Vancouver in 1992, adhering to the teaching of Master Cheng Yen, has dedicated itself to spread the love to the people through their efforts in relief, education, senior care and environment in Vancouver.
